THE HALLOWS COLLECTION
An Exploration of Life, Death & Alchemy
By Meredith Theodora, Founder & Designer of You Play You Pay
There is something beautiful about the things that time leaves behind. Weathered relics, bones returning to the earth, roots growing through what was once whole. Nature is constantly creating and destroying, and somewhere between those two forces, transformation takes place.
The Hallows Collection was born from that space between life and death.
This collection explores mortality, alchemy, ancient symbolism, and the natural process of decay and rebirth. I wanted to create pieces that felt as though they had been discovered rather than made — objects that could have existed centuries ago, carrying their own histories and mysteries.
The Beauty of Imperfection
Every piece in The Hallows Collection begins by hand.
Through carving, sculpting, and experimenting with organic forms, I allow the material to develop its own character. I have always been drawn to textures that feel weathered, imperfect, and almost alive.
Rather than creating something perfectly symmetrical or polished, I wanted this collection to embrace irregularity.
Some pieces resemble ancient armor. Others feel like fragments of bone, roots, thorns, or objects reclaimed by the earth.
To me, those imperfections are what give each piece its identity.
Alchemy, Symbolism & Transformation
Alchemy has always fascinated me, particularly the idea that something must undergo change to become something else.
That philosophy runs throughout The Hallows Collection.
Serpents represent the shedding of old identities and the beginning of new ones. Skulls and coffins serve as reminders of mortality, while crescent moons symbolize cycles, intuition, and the constant movement between light and darkness.
Shields, thorns, and claw-like settings draw from the language of protection and defense. These forms transform jewelry into something more personal — a kind of wearable armor.
I also incorporated stones such as labradorite, amethyst, obsidian, opalite, and Indonesian black moss agate. Each brings its own visual character and traditional symbolism, from protection and grounding to intuition and renewal.
Together, these elements tell a story about the relationship between our physical existence and the things we cannot always see or explain.
Inspired by the Unseen
Folklore, witchcraft, and the supernatural have always influenced my work.
For this collection, I explored imagery associated with the unseen world: wandering spirits, bats, serpents, lunar forms, and ancient talismans.
Some designs carry a darker, more ceremonial presence, while others are playful interpretations of familiar supernatural figures.
I wanted the collection to feel mysterious without losing the individuality and rawness that define You Play You Pay.
Jewelry as Wearable Armor
Since creating You Play You Pay, I have always viewed jewelry as more than an accessory.
For me, jewelry can represent protection, identity, rebellion, and personal transformation. It can become something we carry through different chapters of our lives.
The Hallows Collection continues that philosophy.
Each piece is handmade with intention, incorporating traditional jewelry-making techniques alongside experimental, organic forms. Many of the designs are one of a kind, preserving the individuality of the carving and the materials.
These are not pieces created to look identical.
They are meant to feel personal, imperfect, and entirely their own.
Nothing Truly Disappears. It Transforms.
At the heart of this collection is a simple idea: everything changes.
What decays eventually becomes part of something new. What we leave behind can make room for what comes next.
The Hallows Collection is my interpretation of that cycle — an exploration of mortality, nature, and the beauty that exists within transformation.
A collection of modern relics, created by hand and meant to be carried into the future.
Welcome to The Hallows Collection.
